Joining a ministry is a great way to meet new people, get involved in an activity you enjoy, and help others. Feel free to contact us for more information about our programs and meeting times.
The Altar Guild beautifies our worship by the preparation of the church for Sunday Eucharist. The Altar Guild is a vital part of the church service; they prepare the church for the service on Sundays, and every other service during the year, such as Advent, Christmas, Easter, baptisms and any other special event. Though it is a rewarding job, it can be hard; every member is dedicated to the work they do, even cleaning and polishing the candle holders especially when they are caked with wax!
The Altar Guild is always open to new members - men and women!
The Music Ministry of Church of the Holy Spirit exists to encourage the congregation to “make a joyful noise” during the weekly service and on special occasions. Through the use of two Hymnals (The Hymnal 1982 & Lift Every Voice and Sing) parishioners attending our services are given the opportunity to join with members of our choir in song as we celebrate the liturgy in both prayer and song. Next, we strive to use our gifts in venues both sacred and secular.
Our Choir is lead by our Music Director, Bill Lacey. The choir meets every Tuesday night at 7 PM. Talk to a staff or clergy member is you would like to join the choir.
Very often, the first exposure to Church of the Holy Spirit comes through the warm smiles and helpful ministry of our greeters. Every Sunday, two people are assigned to greet parishioners as they enter the church and offer bulletins for the service. When someone new joins us, our Greeters welcome them, assist as needed, and offer New Member pamphlets that explains who we are.
Lectors bring the Word of God to our congregation. During the service, these lay readers read one or two passages from Scripture, a Psalm and the Prayers of the People. Lay readers also assist in baptisms as the intercessor.
The ushers do a wonderful job of seeing that those in attendance are properly released from the pews at communion time and that they are assisted in going up and down the stairs in a safe manner. It is also the duty of the ushers to assist with the offering and presentation of the elements. We would welcome anyone who might be interested in this ministry.
Coffee Hour Hosts
After worship, our social interaction around strong coffee and tasty treats is always a good thing. Coffee hour brings us together for fellowship and friendship. We are always looking for new people to join in the ministry of hospitality by signing up to bring pastries after Sunday service.
Pastoral Care Team
The Pastoral Care Team is a community of people that visit parishioners who are home bound, in a nursing home, or who just need a friendly visit. The pastoral teams commit to one visit per month. It is a very gratifying feeling to know that you have made someone feel that they are cared about and that their church community is here for them. It is a very fulfilling way to serve.
